What is TLHS?
The Tufts Longitudinal Health Study (TLHS) is dedicated to helping students hold on to the healthy habits they already have and acquire new ones too. We need a better understanding of what and why students choose the habits they have in order to design initiatives and campus resources that effectively address their unique needs and concerns. That’s why the TLHS was started.
This groundbreaking study will transform the Tufts campus into one where healthy living is the norm. The TLHS will lead to programs that will help students leave Tufts with more than just a diploma under their arm. We want Tufts students to forge their way into the real world equipped with an arsenal of healthy lifestyle habits that will ensure they’ll put that Tufts degree to good use for a long, long time.
College can be an overwhelming experience - endless challenges of college life and the daunting transition to independent living. Lots of things change at university, including lifestyles. Lifestyle habits established during this time can have an enormous impact on current health and well being, as well as the risk for developing the nation’s most serious health conditions: heart disease, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, obesity.
